  • United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will hold its 2020 high-level conference early June in Portugal’s Lisbon to support the sustainable use of the oceans, seas and marine resources.

BACKGROUND:

  • Theme of “Scaling up ocean action based on science and innovation for the implementation of Goal 14: stocktaking, partnerships and solutions.”
  • It will be co-hosted by the Governments of Portugal and Kenya.
  • The Conference will support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development in Lisbon.
