CONTEXT

  • Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit at Bishkek.
  • He would also meet PM Narendra Modi there.
  • This would be the first meeting between the two leaders after the BJP’s massive victory in the general elections.
  • The SCO summit is due to be held on 13-14 June in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
